Unfortunately, Easter-related traditions can cause dental issues. This can make your holiday inconvenient and even a bit painful. As you have probably already guessed, it’s best to prevent dental issues this Easter. Our dentist, Dr. Jorge Rico, is happy to help you do so by encouraging you to keep your teeth and gums in mind and by doing the following things:
-Limit your candy consumption: This is important because candy can promote cavities. This is because it’s loaded with sugar. So, it’s best to limit your candy consumption by only eating one or two pieces and then saving the rest for another day. This can reduce your chances of having cavities.
-Wear a mouthguard: If you’re expecting to participate in a vicious Easter egg hunt (we all know they exist, especially when money is involved), then it’s best to wear a mouthguard while doing so. Wearing a mouthguard can help you prevent knocked-out and broken teeth as you get hit in the face with elbows and get shoved into the surrounding trees.
-Clean your smile: Removing bacteria and other harmful substances from the smile can help you avoid cavities, gum disease and other dental issues. So, make sure to brush twice a day, floss once a day and rinse daily. If you eat or drink something acidic, it’s best to wait 30 minutes to brush.
